Suggesting something new
The old system works.
Sort of.
Every family has a way of organising the house. A spreadsheet, a shared calendar, a notebook, someone who "just knows." And it sort of works. But when something changes, new people get involved, the person who managed everything steps back, the house gets used more, it's worth asking whether there's a better way.

A quiet, simple way to look after a house that only family and friends visit.
Easy enough that everyone just uses it. Simple enough that no one needs convincing.

Calendar
One shared calendar.
Full control on visibility and approvals.
Choose who can see the calendar, who can book directly, and who needs to request. Make summer request-only so family gets first pick, then open the rest of the year for everyone.

Your house, your way
Nothing changes
unless you want it to.
Lope & Lark doesn't ask anyone to change how they communicate, and you decide how much control to share. Keep everything with one person, or let others manage the calendar, approve dates, or update the house guide. However your family works, the setup matches.

Common questions
What is Lope & Lark?
A private space for your second home. You add your house, invite the people you trust, and everyone can see when it's free, request dates, and help look after the place. It's not a marketplace. There are no public listings and no strangers.
How is this different from Airbnb?
Airbnb is for renting to strangers. Lope & Lark is for sharing with people you know. There's no public profile, no platform fee on stays, and no reviews. You pay £9/month per house. That's it.
How do payments between people work?
You pay each other directly: bank transfer, Revolut, cash, however you normally do it. Lope & Lark shows what's owed and tracks when it's paid. We never touch the money.
Is it really private?
Yes. Your house doesn't appear anywhere public. The only way someone can see it is if you send them an invite. You control access completely and can remove anyone at any time.
Do my family and friends have to pay?
No. Only the house owner pays. Everyone you invite uses it free.
What if my family already has a system that works?
Most families do: a group chat, a spreadsheet, someone who keeps track. Lope & Lark doesn't replace how you talk to each other. It just means the calendar, costs, and house info are in one shared place instead of in one person's head. Everyone you invite uses it free, so there's nothing for them to sign up to or pay for.
